Allergy Shots and Immunotherapy Treatment in Chapel Hill & Durham NC

Brief Description

Our comprehensive allergy shot treatments, include safe and effective Low Dose Allergen therapy (LDA) by developing the body's tolerance levels and providing long lasting relief from allergies including food allergies/sensitivities and chemical sensitivities. We do administer traditional allergy shots as they do not build the same resistance.

Symptom

Allergies, asthma, runny nose, itchy eyes, Eczema, Psoriasis, GI symptoms, migraines, autoimmune disorders, and mental health issues among other symptoms.

Treatment

Small doses of homeopathic allergens and antigens combined with an enzyme to prompt the body's immune response. Initially given 2-3 months apart, LDA gives relief from symptoms as well as stopping autoimmune responses which promotes long-term relief.

Commonly called: Allergy Therapy, Allergy Shots, Low Dose Allergen Immunotherapy, LDA

At IMCNC, we provide advanced and comprehensive allergy treatments tailored to meet your individual needs. Our goal is to help you find lasting relief from allergies and related conditions, allowing you to live a healthier, symptom-free life. We offer customized Low Dose Allergen (LDA) immunotherapy to address your specific needs.

Here at the Integrative Medical Clinic of North Carolina, we are lucky enough to have Karen Saylor, Family Nurse Practitioner, as our resident Allergen Immunotherapy specialist. Her expertise ensures our patients receive exceptional care and guidance throughout their allergy treatment journey.

Understanding allergy treatment

Allergy treatment focuses on addressing the underlying causes of allergic reactions while providing relief from symptoms to enhance your overall quality of life. Modern treatment approaches combine various strategies, from readily available over-the-counter medications to prescription allergy medicines tailored to your specific needs. Through comprehensive allergy testing, we can precisely identify your unique triggers, allowing for more targeted and effective treatment plans. Advanced immunotherapy options such as Low Dose Allergen (LDA) treatment, offer long-term solutions by helping your body build natural resistance to allergens. These treatment methods effectively combat common allergy symptoms such as sneezing, swelling, and nasal congestion, providing both immediate relief and lasting results for better respiratory health and overall wellness.

The first step: Allergy testing

Before beginning any immunotherapy treatment, we start with thorough allergy testing to identify your specific triggers and sensitivities. Based on these results, Karen will create a personalized treatment plan that specifically addresses your unique sensitivities and health goals.

Before beginning any immunotherapy treatment, we start with a thorough history and may do blood testing for food allergies, food sensitivities, environmental allergens,, or use any previous labs that have been done.  Sometimes we also do stool or blood testing for autoimmune triggers.

LDA: A new & improved allergy shot

Low Dose Allergen Immunotherapy (LDA) is an innovative type of allergy shot that uses a gentler and broader approach. Unlike conventional allergy shots, LDA treatments:

    • Require fewer visits initially, getting the LDA treatments every 2 months (versus weekly) and then spreading the treatments out.
    • Address a broader range of sensitivities including environmental allergies, foods and chemical sensitivities, as well as autoimmune conditions.
    • Use much smaller doses and needles

Whether in person or via televideo, this group is hands down the best I’ve found in the area with the exceptional combination of head, heart, and hands. That they are alopathically and naturopathically trained and proficient is the frosting on the cake! I continue to be impressed by their high standards of excellence, and thorough investigative skills since first discovering them several years ago. I feel privileged to have crossed paths with this group, especially Dr. McGregor. Her smile lights up a whole room. You’re in for a real treat!

Finding IMC has been a blessing! Great place to get your whole body back in health. Working with Addie has been amazing for gut and hormonal imbalance. She listens to you and makes sure to assess each option available. I truly feel heard for once in terms of my symptoms and seeing results. Definitely recommend the practice 🙂

I flew across the country to consult with this team of highly trained physicians. With a complicated health history and frustrated with relying solely on traditional methodologies, I sought out this clinic for the physicians’s holistic approach to treating patients. The environment is warm and welcoming, the physicians are extremely thorough and deeply caring. I strongly recommend at least a consultation to any patient seeking alternative care options.

I believe in natural, holistic & non conventional medical approaches. I have searched for many years to find a practice that would work for my many health concerns. As a Senior, there continues to be new challenges to address. Integrative Medical Clinic in Chapel Hill not only has helped me find answers that I have been searching for decades, but continues to have additional services that I will be able to utilize quickly. Senior Citizens are not always valued. Here I feel just as valued as any other citizen. In fact, I’m made to feel special.
Energy Medicine

Energy Medicine (EM) is defined as any energetic or informational interaction with a biological system to bring back homeostasis in the organism. EM treats with the understanding that all illness results from disturbances in this energy known as the human biofield (chi or prana), and works by manipulating the body’s energy fields to achieve a positive effect on physical and mental health. Energy Medicine theory states “Physics does not override biochemistry, it drives it.”
